Rural break-ins keep Tofield RCMP busy
During the past week Tofield RCMP responded to 50 calls for service. Included in the calls for service were two false alarms and one motor vehicle collision.
On Aug. 13, Tofield RCMP responded to a call of several gun shots in Beaver County. RCMP members attended but were unable to locate the origin of the shots. On Aug. 13, Tofield RCMP were on patrol in Tofield and conducted a traffic stop on a Honda Civic. The driver of the vehicle provided an expired insurance card and was found to be uninsured. The driver, an 18-year-old male from Tofield, was charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle on a highway. The vehicle was towed.
On Aug. 14, Tofield RCMP were called to a break and enter to a rural residence in Beaver County. The suspect(s) gained entry through a garage door. Several outlying buildings were also broken into. Stolen from the residence were several tools and miscellaneous items. RCMP are still investigating.
On Aug. 14, Tofield RCMP responded to a call of a break and enter to a rural residence in Beaver County. The front door to the residence had been broken and suspect(s) entered and stole several items including a Playstation and firearms. RCMP are still investigating.
On Aug. 15, Tofield RCMP were on patrol on Hwy. 14 and a vehicle was found travelling at 142 km/h. The vehicle, a Dodge Caravan was stopped and on speaking with the driver, signs of impairment were noted. The driver provided a sample of breath on a roadside screening device and the result was a fail. The driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and was taken to the RCMP detachment where they provided breath samples being 180 mg% and 170 mg%. The driver, a 29-year-old female from Irma, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level over 0.08. She was released from custody to attend Vegreville Provincial Court on Sept. 17 at 10 a.m. Further investigation revealed the vehicle was taken without the owners consent and additional charges may be pending.
